How to Draw A Fox

Step 1

For the first step in this tutorial on how to draw a fox, we’ll start with your fox’s head. This step has a few elements, so let’s focus on each part.

First, we draw the giant ear in the picture. You can draw it with a sharp curved line down the middle.

Step 2

Now that we’ve drawn the face of your fox design, we can add its back. Moving away from the head, we’ll use a curved line to shape your fox’s back.

The reference image will give you a good idea of what angle and length the spine should be.

Step 3

Foxes are known for their bushy, juicy tails, so for this step in our How to Draw a Fox guide, we will draw one for your fox drawing.

To draw the tail, we will use a very curvy line from the line we used for the back and back to the body.

After drawing the tail, you can add another slightly curved line under the head to create the fox’s chest.

Step 4

Your fox drawing is now taking shape! For this next step, we will add the four legs of your fox.

This is a step where it will be beneficial to refer to the reference image up close.

I recommend tucking in the front legs first, drawing them down from the bottom of the chest, and then tucking in the stomach backward.

Once the front legs are in, you can draw the thicker back legs. Also, using a pencil first to get the look just right for this step would be beneficial.

Once all the legs and belly are drawn, you can use a small line for your fox’s nose.

Step 5

You have almost completed your task of learning to draw a fox now! There are just a few details left before you can start coloring your drawing, so let’s focus on those details for now.

First, you can draw some eyes by drawing a small circle inside another.

This is one way to draw the eyes, but you can use a different design, like a filled circle, if you want it to look better.

This is how you can draw a mouth for your fox. This one has a cute smiley face, but you could use a different line to give the fox different facial expressions!
